We want to remind members served by Martin's Store, Laurel Springs, and Wintergreen substations of the upcoming planned outage required to perform critical maintenance and ensure long-term reliability of our electric service.
Outage Date: Friday, June 27
Time: 11:45 pm
Duration: 6 hours
The comfort and safety of our members are always top priorities when scheduling work that requires a disruption of your electric service. The date of this outage was determined after careful coordination between CVEC contractors and in-house crews to ensure that the work is done safely and in a timely manner. Significant consideration was given to avoid the upcoming holiday and to allow adequate time for our members to make necessary preparations. Our team has carefully scheduled this work to take place overnight, so that it will have the least impact on our members and when temperatures will be cooler.
A power outage is never ideal, and our crews are trained to work efficiently and safely to minimize the time that your service is affected. Here are a few ways you can prepare and stay safe:
- Cool your space in advance: Lower your thermostat and run ceiling fans before the outage.
- Keep blinds and curtains closed to maintain a cooler indoor temperature.
- Have water available: Fill pitchers or water jugs in advance and stay hydrated throughout the day.
- Charge devices early: Make sure phones, medical equipment, and other electronics are fully charged.
- Use battery- or solar-powered devices when possible: Consider using battery- or solar-powered fans, lights, radios, and other devices you may need during the outage.
- Have a backup plan: If you use medical equipment, have a backup or make plans to stay in an alternate location.
- Plan for refrigeration: Minimize opening the refrigerator and freezer to keep contents cooler longer and perishables safe. For more information on food and water safety during power outages, visit the FDA’s website.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make these critical improvements. We’re committed to providing safe, reliable electric service — even when temperatures rise.
