CVEC maintains right-of-ways through the following methods:

  • Low Height Zone: These trees do not exceed 20 feet in mature height and must be planted 30 feet from the pole or powerline, 10 feet outside of the ROW.
  • Medium Height Zone: These trees generally exceed 20 feet in mature height and must be planted at least 40 feet from the pole or powerline, 20 feet outside of the ROW.

Infographic showing suitable pantings around CVEC Rights-of-Way. Trees planted well outside the 40 feet zone will reach full maturity without extending into the ROW and will not need trimming. Low Height Zone trees (20 feet or less) can be placed 30 feet away. Medium Height Zone (40 feet or less) at least 40 feet away, and Tall Heigh Zone trees (40 feet or more) should be at least 50 feet from poles.
