Letter from the President (Excerpt from the June edition of CVEC’s Current Communicator)
CVEC is pleased to announce the appointment of Interim Director, B.J. Berglund, who was selected to fill the vacancy after Roberta Harlowe announced her retirement. He will serve until the upcoming Annual Meeting in September, where he will stand for election. Berglund brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to our members and communities.
Seven CVEC linemen participated in the Gaff-n-Go Rodeo, where they showcased their skills and teamwork with outstanding results. The rodeo, held in Doswell, VA, brought over 350 linemen from 12 states together to compete in timed events that were judged on accuracy and safe work practices.
We are proud to announce that we’ve earned a 2025 Member Satisfaction Award—a reflection of our dedication to providing reliable, responsive service. CVEC is grateful for its members and will continue to strive for excellence through constant dedication to improvement.
Starting June 1, your electric bill increased due to regional power cost hikes. We want to keep you informed about rising power costs and the factors behind them, including exponentially higher capacity costs, growing demand, and lack of new power generation. CVEC is investing in local power solutions, advocating at the regional level and offering practical ways to ease the impact. We’re committed to helping you understand these changes, our response, and how we can work together to navigate this challenge.
Finally, we continue our mission of community outreach by participating in local school career days. Through live line demonstrations and job fair tables, our employees are helping to spark interest in the energy industry and highlighting the powerful careers available to future generations
